After many years without a festival, a group of volunteers got together to bring fun and festivities back to Plainwell in 2015. It was such a success “Plainwell Days” are back this year with four days of festivities June 2-5.
“We hope it will be bigger and better than last year when we had 5,000 to 7,000 people attend,” said Plainwell Days chairman Tracy Dunlap. “We’re really excited and have some new events this year.”
The new events include two days of arts and crafts at Hicks Park, a motorcycle show, free children’s games and a petting zoo, chicken dinners with Moe’s barbecue and “Sips on the River.”
Sips on the River is Saturday, June 4, from 6 to 10 p.m. for those who enjoy trying new beers and wines. Socialize, play games, enjoy live music by “TYPO” and vote for the “People’s Choice” contest. Food vendors will be nearby at Fanny Pell Park.
All the same favorite events from last year will also keep festival-goers busy this year, including a parade, carnival rides, a car show, farmers market, flea market, senior expo, tractor show, baseball tournament and so much more.
“The parade this year has a superhero theme, which will be fun,” Dunlap said. “After the parade everyone’s invited to meet for free hotdogs and live music in Harding’s Market parking lot.”
